Dr Richard Doherty

Richard is a Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS at St Thomas’ hospital and in private practice.  He works primarily with adults and the specific conditions he specialises in treating are all anxiety disorders (panic, health anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, PTSD), along with depression, insomnia, work stress, perfectionism and other common psychological difficulties.

He is also highly specialist in relieving the impact of physical conditions such as pain, migraine, exhaustion, IBS, and other health conditions.

His work draws on a range of evidence based interventions, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

Richard has a 1st Class Honours in psychology, a doctorate in clinical psychology, and a further diploma, with distinction in CBT therapy. Richard is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, UK (HCPC).

Currently, alongside his clinical work, Richard lectures on the Oxford University Clinical Doctorate course, and the Royal Holloway CBT course. His research interests focus on psychological treatments for anxiety, sleep and physical health conditions.

His consulting rooms are based in Wimpole St, Central London and fees are £100 per session.
